In this day of lavish entertainment possibilities, it can be a daunting task trying to entertain your children. Despite this newly developed technological dependence, children (for the most part) are easily entertained and I have some ideas that won’t break the bank but will keep your kids happy.
Buy your local newspaper and let their creativity unleash with what they can do. The pictures are sure to amuse them and even if they can’t read the paper, they may ask questions about what is happening on the pages, which gives you a perfect opportunity for story time, securing a significant amount of entertainment time.
Another idea to keep the kiddos entertained for cheap, is to invent games out of household items. Minute to Win It is a show that currently airs on GSN (Game Show Network) and it gives contestants the chance to win prizes by competing in challenges using items commonly found around the house. You can go online and print out the “blueprints” to these games and enjoy them with your children for an endless time of fun and family bonding and your wallet will thank you for this!

Mrs. Venus delivers week after week with her hot topics and we’ve decided to hear what YOU have to say about these topics and this week was asked: ”Is it acceptable that black people use the word n_gger ?” Why or Why not? The responses were amazing and varied. Here is what readers had to say when weighing in on this sensitive subject:
Our very own Focus on Family blogger Tamara Cameron said: “Not at all!!!! In order to drop that word from everyone’s vocabulary everyone has to quit using it.”
Macy Mickle: “U did it wrong, they do not say n–ger it’s nigga . There is a difference.”
Bailey Belgarde: “They are reclaiming a word that’s been used against them for decades. Please check your privilege.”
Tina Garrow: “In the population I work with nobody under any circumstances calls themselves n–ger infact a majority of the blacks are offended by either using the word or being called it.”
Angela Concepcion: “Well, for that matter, is it acceptable for blacks to refer to whites as crackers”??
Sarah Reagan: “I think white ppl should have A word that is offensive to everyone but only we can use it lol”
Cody Serguson: “My thought is theres a big difference between a black and a nigger and if someone gets offended by the word its probably cuz there a nigger.”
Why Venus Why? You were asked should blacks celebrate the 4th of July given that time rooted in slavery. You said: “Yes, they live in America too. Why did you say this and do you still stand by this response?
Mrs. Venus: I believe anyone who lives in america has the right to celebrate the 4th of July, so yes I still stand by this response.
